Welcome Back to School

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Welcome back to school and to the second grade! My name is Ms. Gray. I am looking forward to working with your child in my class this year.  I would like to let you know some of the expectations and procedures I use in the operation of my class.

Students will be bringing home a homework folder Mon. – Thurs. On Mondays, there will be an assignment page that will list the homework for the week, as well as spelling words and classroom announcements, please read these carefully. I assign math and reading homework every night. Occasionally, students may also have an assignment in spelling, science, or social studies. Please ensure that your child completes the assignment listed on the homework assignment page each night. Students are to return the folder with completed work each morning.

There are five rules your child is expected to adhere to.

1.       Show respect to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

2.       Follow directions.

3.       Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

4.       Raise your hand for permission to speak or get up from your seat.

5.       Try your best on all work given.

There are four consequences to breaking the rules.

1.       Warning

2.       Student/ Teacher Conference

3.        Parent / Student/ Teacher Conference

4.       Office Referral

Students will be reward with a sticker on the behavior chart for every day they do not break a rule. Once a child has at least five stickers on the chart he or she may pick a prize from the treasure chest. Rewards are sent home on Fridays. Students can choose to keep their stickers for the next week if they wish. The more stickers on the chart the bigger the prize he or she can win.

I look forward to working with your child and you in this educational process.

Sincerely,

Ms. Gray
